\r\n\r\nThe ecosystem of our planet is of a transient composition that has been captured for this show by the trio of artists, to create awareness, and to re-create waste in a creative narrative. Each artist has the freedom to choose a concept that engages and indulges in a thought process. The artists are diverse and yet connected under the common interest of sustainability in art.
\r\n\r\nMixed media works with found and created materials as the concept demands, that of \u2018Found and Beyond\u2019 for the show on sustainability in art, is created by Umesh Prasad, Kapila Nahender and Shirley Mathew.
\r\n\r\nUmesh Prasad <\/b>– A sculptor primarily, who creates metaphors to weave stories and is inspired to express his thoughts by delving into a source of e-waste. The artist believes in experimenting from a very young age and has created a body of works that displays his propensity.
\r\n \r\nKapila Nahender <\/b>– a multi-disciplinary artist has created a volume of works with the use of primordial natural stones, soil and flowers from the earth surface, that is in consonance with earth consciousness and her practice. Her interest is to engage in a visual language that dwells on her concern for the environment.
\r\n\r\nShirley Mathew <\/b> \u2013 an experimental artist, has emphasized the struggle of Nature losing green space and yet create a presence in a man-made landscape. Using natural pigments and found objects in the form of a story-board, that leaves an impression on the viewer to ponder upon.
\r\n\r\nThe trio of artists have created an alchemy of thoughts that leads to a space, fostering a dialogue with the viewer!\r\n\r\n\r\n

Shirley Mathew graduated in Psychology (Hons), from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi and later opted for intensive studies in art at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, USA.
\r\nHer instructors were internationally known (late) William Christenberry, Steven Cushner and Jeanne Porter. Further trained in Barcelona, Spain at the Escola Llotja, the institution where Picasso studied in his early years. She completed a short residency at the Garhi Studios of Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi on invitation by erstwhile Chairman, eminent artist Mr. R.B. Bhaskaran. Her studies in Italy at Val de Pozza led to another dimension in her creativity.
\r\nShirley represented Karnataka at the Art Fusion Show, Mumbai, to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Statehood of Maharashtra. More than two decades of her creative journey have led to participation in over seventy shows including several solo shows and displays in ten cities across India. She has completed courses in Madhubani painting and basic paper making courses conducted by eminent artists.
\r\nShirley won an International award for sustainable art by Eco aware Art Gallery. 300 applicants from 35 countries, 38 artists were selected.
\r\nShe has curated shows for established and eminent artists and is currently the Art Consultant of MKF Museum of Art, Bengaluru.
\r\nHer collectors are in India and abroad. She lives and works in Bengaluru.

Kapila Nahender, is deeply involved in the process of creating art based on her experiences and environment. Her current series of work is an extension of her interpretations of the Urban Garden . Her experiences in the \u2018Garden City\u2019 of Bangalore that has transformed into a dense urban landscape, where economic growth has led to lesser sustainability.
\r\nAfter schooling at Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School, she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru (1996) and later on a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from M.S. University- Baroda (1998). Seeking broader perspectives, she pursued a \u2018Master of Visual Art\u2019 in Printmaking from Chitrakala Parishath in the year 2022 earning a gold medal.
\r\nKapila has been part of many Solo and Group shows in prestigious art galleries across Bengaluru. Her artistic journey began with a group show at the Venkatappa Art Gallery in 1996 and her first Solo show was at Jalsa Art Gallery in 1998. Later from 2014 to 2024, Kapila exhibited several Solo shows and group shows, at galleries namely Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Raintree, The Arts Village, 1Shantiroad Gallery, Time and Space, MKF Museum of Art and many other galleries. She has participated in several shows representing the International Women\u2019s day, at galleries such as \u2018Posh Art gallery\u2019 and \u2018I Rise\u2019 Edition VI, at Arthouz Gallery and Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru.
\r\n\r\nKapila presently lives and runs a printmaking studio named Kapila Nahender Atelier (formerly known as Studio Sakura) in the heart of Bengaluru.\r\n

Umesh Prasad is a self-taught artist, painter, and sculptor. An engineer by profession, but is driven by a passion for art. Over the years, he has built a career in advertising, collaborating with prestigious agencies like Sista’s Pvt. Ltd., Ogilvy & Mather, and J. Walter Thompson.
\r\nSince childhood, he has been a dedicated crafter and artist, always seeking to innovate, adapt, and express himself through various mediums, materials and techniques.
\r\nCurrently, as a full-time artist, he focuses on themes that reflect his personal interests, including caricature, music, nature, wildlife, spirituality, and abstract art.
\r\nPrasad has participated in several group shows at galleries in Bengaluru, namely at Venkatappa Art Gallery in 2016 & Jan-2019, at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Apr-2019. ‘Beyond Real – Journeys into the Abstract’, took place at Indian Institute of World Culture in 2024 and also in 2025.
\r\nHe is the recipient of an award in the annual show about \u2018Artists for Wildlife and Nature\u2019 in the Sculpture category that was held in the year 2019 at Venkatappa Art Gallery.
